Teri and I went to see Benjamin Verdery (@benverdery on Twitter) at the UNLV Performing Arts Center’s concluding event for the 2016-2017 guitar concert series. Baby Rosslyn seemed to love the music and clapped en utero. This was Rosslyn’s first classical performance and was quite relaxing. Highlights of the evening were:
Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras #5
Ingram Marshall’s Seopa.
This had a very eclectic, yet solid vibe. It reminded me of Buckethead’s Colma. (Haunting, disturbing, yet satisfyingly structured.)
Verdery’s selection from his original Eleven Etudes and his arrangement and execution of Mozart’s Adagio. K 540. were stellar.
In all, it was an peaceful escape that Teri and I both needed. Great music!
